Cal and our Jason

I really should be packing right now but I couldn't resist posting a quick one. We're leaving for Buenos Aires (Argentina) in a couple of hours and hubby and I have been singing The Go Go's 'Vacation' (or is it The Bangles?) since we woke up at 7:30 this morning. Excited much?In our five years together we have never been on a vacation by ourselves, meaning without other people accompanying us. Even our short but sweet honeymoon was shared with two friends of ours. So for this, our first trip alone, we decided to go to a place that holds some special meaning for both of us.Four and a half years ago I was living in Buenos Aires with one of my best friends after I quit my job in New York City. My husband came to visit and proposed to me there in the first hour of his trip in the elevator of our apartment building. We even bought my ring, all three of us, meandering down one of the big shopping boulevards in the city. Apart from the obvious good memories I have of the city, Buenos Aires is objectively a great too. The food culture is amazing. (I even took a vegetarian hiatus last time I went because, come on, life's too short not to eat Argentine beef.) The city has a ton of little designers and great coffee shops and it's population is really diverse. I love it all. We're staying at a nice hotel in a central location and I'm so looking forward to waking up tomorrow morning and heading straight to San Telmo to go antique shopping. Afterwards we're heading to brunch here and after that I'll be in a pancake coma the rest of the day I'm sure. But I won't let that stop me from drinking Malbec in the bathtub. That's definitely going to happen.I'll leave you with some old pictures from my time living in Buenos Aires. Can't wait to share the trip on here after we return! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
